Info Mahe
With a surface area of approximately 150 km² and an expansion of 28 by 8 km Mahe is the biggest landarea of the Seychelle Islands. Nearly 90% of the population live here. The impressive and diversified island is well developed for tourists. The international airport opened in 1976 and connects the Seychelles with the rest of the world.

Take a walk through the tiny capital Victoria with its delicate silver british looking clocktower and visit the market where fresh caught fish, fresh fruits, and various other delicious goods are sold. If you would like to explore Mahe by bus you will find possibilities to most places on the island from the big bus station in Victoria. You can also take one of the taxis if you don´t have enough time, or want to be sure to reach your destination on a certain time ;-).
In order to visit other islands you either book an domestic flight with one of the small prop airliner of Air Seychelles, a helicopter transfer, or choose the waterway from the harbour. With the speed catamaran Cat Coco, which allows you a perfect planning of your transfer with a well organized schedule and the possibility to reserve your trips by internet from home, you will reach your destination within short time. If you are more adventurous and have enough time, there is also the opportunity to go by freighter.
Mahe is abundantly covered with beautiful vegetation and offers unexpected hiking opportunities through nearly untouched nature on the 905 m high Morne Seychellois, the highest mountain of the Seychelles, with unique views over the lagoon, the Saint Anne Marine National Park and the surrounding islands. At the nicely designed botanical garden on the brink of Victoria you can gaze at the varity of the seychelle fauna in compacted form and watch a couple of giant tortoises.
The most original landscape and vegetation you will find in the south of Mahe. In this area you will also find the most deserted and most beautiful beaches, like the Anse Takamaka or the Anse Intendence.
